Zechariah 3:8-10

The missionaries will say that Zechariah 3:8-10 shows that the shoot/branch (Messianic title) removes iniquity ... in one day.

The Reply is that The verses are (JPS): " Hearken well, O High Priest Joshua, you and your fellow priests sitting before you! For those men are a sign that I am going to bring My servant the Branch. [ie the future king of David's line. See 6:12; Jer 23:5-6; 33:15-16; cf. Isa. 11:1] For mark well the stone which I palce before Joshua, a single stone with seven eyes. I will execute its engraving--declares the L-rd of Hosts--and I will remove that country's guilt. In that day--declares the L-rd of Hosts--you will be inviting each other to the shade of vines and fig trees."

First of all, this says that G-d, not the Davidic king will remove the guilt. Second of all, Jesus is not of the line of David, because he is not Joseph's son. Thus, whether or not Joseph is of the line of David, Jesus is not. Davidic decent can only be traced through the father. Additionally, I don't see everyone enjoying their vine and fig tree. It obviously refers to the Messiah, but since we are not yet sitting under our vine and fig tree, it does not and cannot refer to Jesus.
