When Was The First Man Created?

Some Christians such as this one try to prove that the Bible is the word of God by appealing to archaeological evidence. However, archaeology does not prove the Bible is from God; it can only prove that it is an accurate history book. However, is it completely accurate?

According to the Bible Adam was created approximately 6,000 years ago...

The ages and relationships of the patriarchs, given in Genesis and shown on the opposite page, allow one to estimate the time of Adam's creation at slightly more than 6,000 years ago.  What uncertainties are involved?

a. These ages are based on the Hebrew (Masoretic) text. The corresponding numbers in the Samaritan and Greek (Septuagint) texts place Adam's creation about 6,200 and 7,300 years ago, respectively. However, recent archaeological evidence shows something interesting...

Homo erectus AND THE ABORIGINES

The Turkana Boy skeleton shown at the side is the best preserved example of Homo erectus that has so far been discovered. The interesting thing is that there is no major difference between this 1.6 miillion-year-old-fossil and people of our day.

Homo erectus 'S SAILING CULTURE "Ancient mariners: Early humans were much smarter than we suspected" According to this article in the March 14, 1998, issue of New Scientist, the people that evolutionists call Homo erectus were sailing 700,000 years ago. It is impossible, of course, to think of people who possessed the knowledge, technology and culture to go sailing as primitive.

As we can clearly see, there are fossils of human beings dating over a million and a half years ago.

Just in case if a Christian desperately argues back that Adam was the first homo sapien, it will not solve this obvious dilemma for there are fossils of homo sapiens dating back earlier than 7,000 years ago:

The fossilized skulls of two adults and one child discovered in the Afar region of eastern Ethiopia have been dated at 160,000 years, making them the oldest known fossils of modern humans, or Homo sapiens. (Robert Sanders, "160,000-year-old fossilized skulls uncovered in Ethiopia are oldest anatomically modern humans", UC Berkley News, 11 June, 2003, Source)

Scientists have unearthed three 160,000-year-old human skulls in Ethiopia that are the oldest known and best-preserved fossils of modern humans' immediate predecessors. (Rick Callahanm, "160,000-Year-Old Skulls Found", CBS News, June 11 2003, Source)

Human fossils found 38 years ago in Africa are 65,000 years older than previously thought, a new study says?pushing the dawn of "modern" humans back 35,000 years. (Hillary Mayell, "Oldest Human Fossils Identified", National Geographic News, February 16, 2005, Source)

If Adam is supposed to be the first man created and then according to the Bible Adam was created around 6000 years ago, then doesn't that go against archaeological evidence that suggests that there were human beings way before that time?

The Quran is completely silent on the issue of when Adam was created so this argument cannot be used against Islam.

However, this argument can be used against the Bible and archaeological evidence has come to expose its errors.
